Abcam is a producer and marketer of high quality protein research tools. These tools enable life scientists to analyse components of living cells at the molecular level which is essential in a wide range of fields including drug discovery, diagnostics, and basic research.
Headquartered in Cambridge, Abcam has nine global subsidiary offices enabling local services, multi-language support and next-day delivery in over 130 countries. The Company was founded in 1998, and now employs over 820 people. It was admitted to AIM back in November 2005 at a share price of 167p and a market capitalisation of only £57.5m, having raised £10m. The shares had a one for five split in November 2010 which reduced the market price and increased the number of shares in issue, effectively reducing the admission price to only 34p.
