Having significantly outperformed the UK main market over the previous 5 years, 2021 saw the dinosaurs of the UK main market make a long-awaited comeback. With plenty of fast-growing newcomers to AIM, will the dinosaurs continue to outperform?

At the end of December 2021 there were 852 companies on AIM, with the total market value of London's growth market £150 billion. This compares to 842 companies at the end of November, when AIM’s market value was £145 billion. There were 12 genuine new arrivals in the month and 2 departures. 2021 was the first year since 2014 when AIM closed the year with more companies than it started.
