For many of us, leaving school will be the first time we are faced with financial choices. Ranging from ‘one more beer’ to ‘student loan’, the decisions we make may impact our lives for years to come. The Student Economist is a blog for those with a budget and a desire to make it go further. After all, it’s never too early to start thinking about money.
The transition between school and university is often discussed as if students go through a prolonged awakening of independence as they enter the “real world” of adulthood. But I believe the difference lies in only one word. A word that has the ability to strike both immense elation or colossal fear into the hearts of every university student: money. The student is told that they have three years in which to have the time of their lives, try out absolutely everything and get a degree.
