The toy industry took a knock last year when Toys “R” Us went out of business. That, alongside shifting demand for online entertainment, has created a difficult environment for some of the world’s biggest toy companies. But both Hasbro and Mattel have strong brands which have the potential to reignite growth. Avengers: Endgame has taken more than $2.6bn (£2.0bn) at the global box office since its release at the end of April. That means it has outperformed Titanic and is on track to overtake Avatar to become the biggest box office hit of all time.
