FAANG results: what are the experts saying?

Financial results were mixed from the five FAANGs – the US tech giants which, for so long have led the S&P 500 upwards. Now that all the companies have reported numbers for the three months to June 2019, we’ve taken a look through the results and analysed the analysis to find out what the experts think of FAANGs.

As a group, the FAANGs – Facebook (US: FB), Apple (US: AAPL), Amazon (US: AMZN), Netflix (US: NFLX) and Google-owner Alphabet (US: GOOGL) – are not as alluring as they once were. Regulatory backlash against their size and market dominance has gathered pace in 2019. Facebook and Alphabet are coming under repeated fire for their use of customer data; Apple and Netflix are facing tougher competition than they ever have before; regulators are toying with the idea of splitting Amazon up.
