Winners: success in unlikely places
Medical authorities in China have said a drug developed by a subsidiary of Fujifilm Holdings (Japan:4901) used in Japan to treat new strains of influenza appeared to be effective in coronavirus patients.An official at China’s science and technology ministry, said favipiravir, had produced encouraging outcomes in clinical trials in Wuhan and Shenzhen involving 340 patients. Despite no official comment from the company, shares in Fujifilm Holdings soared on the news.
