Sport used to involve mucking around in the park. These days it bears a closer resemblance to armed warfare. The intensity with which club games are fought, makes you think the players are competing for something far more life threatening than just the pride of winning. Even at an under 6s game, you get the odd parent who behaves as if their child is part of a gladiatorial fight to the death.
